Press Release No. 4-15 – Tortola2015 – Results of the Draw for the 2015 CBC Championships for Men and Women
Bridgetown, Barbados (2015 CBC Championships) – The draw for the 2015 CBC Championships for Men and Women was held today, February 26th, 2015 at the office of the CBC in Bridgetown, Barbados, under the direction of the CBC, Vice President of Technical Operations, Mr. Frederick Brown and the CBC President, Mr. Glyne Clarke.
The 2015 CBC Championships for Women will commence on June 9th – 13th in Tortola, British Virgin Islands and will have the participation of the national teams from Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Virgin Islands. In addition, the Men Championships will commence on June 16th – 22nd and will have the participation of the national teams from Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Guyana, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and the Virgin Islands.
Results of the Draw for the Women:
- Group A: Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Virgin Islands.
- Group B: Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Guyana, Jamaica.
Results of the Draw for the Men:
- Group A: Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Virgin Islands.
- Group B: Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Bermuda, Guyana, Suriname.
In the draw, the teams were divided into two groups that will play round -robin within the group. The top two teams from each group will qualify for a semi-final where the 1st place of Group A will play the second place of Group B and vice versa. The winners of the Semi-Finals will advance to the Finals.
About the CBC Championship
The CBC Championship is a FIBA-sponsored basketball tournament where national teams from the Caribbean participate. These countries make up Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC). The top three teams earn berths to the Centrobasket Championship where they compete for spots in the FIBA Americas Championship, from which they can qualify for the FIBA World Cup or the Olympics.
