With the business philosophy “You need to give to get” the office walls of Amer Hourani owner of Cool and Smooth is papered with Certificates of Appreciation and Awards, all the evidence of his contribution to Sports and Culture in Antigua and Barbuda. There isn’t a sporting event in Antigua and Barbuda that Cool and Smooth is not named as a sponsor whether through donations of trophies, uniforms, prizes and gifts.
Cool and Smooth began as a small store in 1988 on Church Street (location still there) selling mainly clothes, shoes and household items and the business expanded to a new location on All Saints Road in 2002.
It was through his days of playing football with Hunters Football Club and volleyball with the Antigua Syrian Volleyball Club that he was encouraged to start selling sporting goods.
Cool & Smooth has been a partner of Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association for almost ten years especially our Business League and their name is synonymous with schools basketball.
Amer describes the best and most humbling moment was when he received a standing ovation at the 2013 Ministry of Sports Student Athlete Awards where he received the award “Sponsor’s Honour Roll”. “You can’t buy this, you have to earn IT.” was what he said when he accepted the award. “It is all about respect and it must be earned.”
Outside of work Amer enjoys spending time with family and friends and is at his happiest when everyone around him is happy.
Cool and Smooth is now the Official Authorized Dealer for Peak Sportswear in Antigua, as well as Rhino and Dickies Workwear.
The Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association is very grateful for the continued contribution and partnership from Cool and Smooth in basketball and sports.
